What’s involved

Sockets are the small alterations that make a house easier to live in: an extra double behind the TV, a USB-A and USB-C outlet next to the bed, an outdoor IP66 socket on the back wall for the lawnmower and Christmas lights, a 13A spur for a hardwired item like a boiler or extractor. We extend existing rings and radials where the loading allows, run new circuits where it does not, and certify the work.

Common questions

• Can you add a socket without making a mess?

  We chase plaster minimally and cover with a dust sheet. For a single new socket we usually leave one short patch of fill (no skim) — the homeowner or decorator finishes. We can do the full make-good for an extra hour if asked.
• How many sockets can I add to a ring?

  Practically unlimited as long as the floor area served by the ring stays within 100m² and the loading is not exceeded. We do the loading check before agreeing.
• Do USB sockets save energy?

  Slightly — but the real value is convenience and tidier surfaces. Modern USB-C PD outlets charge phones and laptops as fast as a wall plug.
• Can you fit a smart switch I bought online?

  If it is CE/UKCA-marked and installs to BS 7671, yes. We will tell you honestly if a switch you have bought is not safe to fit (some imports lack proper insulation, or expect a neutral that the existing wiring does not have).
